How To Prepare for Your Thermography Session: A Complete Guide

Getting ready for your thermal imaging appointment is crucial for accurate results. Here's everything you need to know to prepare properly:

Long-Term Planning

Considering the impact of the following, it's best to wait 3 months after:
  • Breast surgery

  • Chemotherapy

  • Radiation treatments

  • Allow 1 month after any breast biopsy

  • Active breastfeeding (for baseline scans)
• If lactating, imaging only recommended for specific concerns

24 Hours Before Your Scan

To avoid distorting the results of your thermal imaging, avoid all forms of therapy:

  • Exercise and heavy physical activity

  • Massage and lymph treatments

  • Chiropractic adjustments

  • Acupuncture

  • Skip heat treatments

  • Saunas

  • Steam baths

  • Hot tubs

  • Don't use hot or cold packs!

Day of Your Appointment

  • Essential Documentation:


  • Complete your health questionnaire (available for download)
• Arrive 15 minutes early if filling out forms on-site

  • Body Preparation:


  • No hot showers within 4 hours of imaging


  • Skip deodorants, creams, or oils on scan areas


  • Do not shave areas being imaged


  • Remove all jewelry from scan areas


  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing

Additional Considerations:

  • Avoid direct air conditioning exposure en route to session


  • For head imaging, do not eat anything 2 hours prior


  • No gum chewing


  • Reschedule if you have a sunburn


  • Ladies, note your menstrual cycle phase

What to Bring:
  • Completed health forms


  • List of current medications/supplements


  • Notes about recent injuries or skin changes
